Does genital herpes spread through using same toilet seat? I have seen this question being asked repeatedly at various places on the Internet. Everybody is worried about getting infected with genital herpes and this fear makes people think of different ways in which they believe that they may get infected by herpes. The fear of sharing toilet seat and getting herpes originates similarly. The truth is that it is extremely difficult, rather nearly impossible to get genital herpes by sharing the same toilet seat. The virus does not survive outside body and dies quickly. The virus therefore cannot be spread by such means as sharing the same towel or the same toilet seat.

How the virus spreads-

Genital herpes is transmitted by sexual contact. If you come in sexual contact with an infected person you may get herpes. If the affected person has active lesions the chances of getting herpes increase. But many people shed the virus even if they show no outward sign of lesions. They also spread herpes. Herpes virus enters our body through mucous membrane or a cut in the skin or. The inside of mouth, inner genitals, anus, are all covered with mucous membrane.

How did I get Genital Warts?

Genital warts are a sexually transmitted disease that is caused by a virus known as HPV. Warts form on the genitals and near the anus of both men and women, they may appear singly or in a group and if left untreated can potentially grow very large in size. Genital warts can occur both externally or internally. It is quite possible for Genital Warts to also develop in the mouth or throat as a result of oral sex with an infected partner.

After someone contracts the virus, they may not get genital warts for months or years, but they will become a carrier of the virus. During that period, the affected person may pass on the virus to others. If you are in sexual relation with someone and if he/she shows no outer sign of warts, it does not mean that they cannot pass on the virus to you. Your partner may well be totally unaware that they are carriers of the virus.

On the one hand, there are the common cold facts, about which most experts agree. Then there are those things which may be considered common cold facts by some, but not by others. These mostly concern the best ways to prevent cold, common theories about why some people are more susceptible to colds than others, and the best way to treat cold symptoms.

Here are some of the accepted common cold facts. Colds are caused by viruses, not by being overheated or chilled. Being out in cold weather does not increase the likelihood that a person will “catch a cold”. Indoors is the place where most people probably become infected with a virus that leads to a cold. Common methods to prevent the spread of cold viruses, including hand washing and disinfecting public surfaces are worthwhile. Some of the viruses can live for as long as three hours on skin and surfaces, but warm soap and water or disinfectants can kill them.

Outbreaks of fever blisters are happening all the time, all over the world. They usually happen in winter but don’t be fooled - they’ll pop up in the spring, summer, and fall too. I had one on my lip only a week ago, and it’s just starting to dissipate (they hurt!). One thing I wish I would have done is look into a fever blister remedy. Since everyone is affected by fever blisters, fever blister remedies are becoming mighty popular, and I would like to discuss some of them with you here.

A good method that I find works quite well is to apply some type of petroleum jelly to your fever blister in question. There are many products designed for this and you can get them at any convenience store such as Target or Wal-Mart. . Remember, fever blisters and cold sores hurt so apply this stuff gently! Also, petroleum jelly can’t cure your fever blister, it can only quell some of the symptoms that arrive due to the fever blister (just like you can’t get rid of a cold and have to treat the symptoms, it has to go away on it’s own).

I’m sure that millions of people who are affected by them annually wonder - Are cold sores contagious? Dealing with the eruption of a cold sore outbreak can be quite painful. Stinging and burning of the effected area are common. They begin as a sore place and then become formed and begin burst and seep. Within 7 to 14 days they will form a crust and heal. This outbreak is actually caused by the Herpes Simplex 1 Virus. Then annoying contagious cold sores can be stopped before they even have a chance to develop. When you begin to feel the affects of the outbreak such as soreness and tenderness in the area just use Viroxyn and you will avoid the entire painful episode. Being a pain killer the Viroxyn can also get rid of pain inside of ten minutes. Just apply the topical remedy, which contains Benzocaine, to the affected area with the special applicator provided and the cold sore could heal in 3 to 4 days rather than 7 to 10 days. By using the applicator you are avoiding touching the contageous cold sores with your hand, thus reducing the possibility of spreading the infection to other parts of your own body or to someone else.
